ONLINE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE WITH THE THEME: "INTERNATIONALIZATION OF HIGHER EDUCATION RESEARCH AMID THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC"

     With the aim of enhancing the exchange of experiences on Higher Education in general and the issues of Training - Scientific Research - International Cooperation in particular amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. On a global scale, on October 19, 2021, Thanh Hoa University of Culture, Sports and Tourism (TUCST) collaborated with MinSU University (Philippines) and University of Malaysia (Malaysia) organized an online international conference with the theme: "Internationalization of higher education research amid the Covid-19 pandemic".

     Attending the conference were Dr. Le Thanh Ha (TUCST President); Dr. Ha Dinh Hung (Head of Scientific Management Department, TUCST); Dr. Nguyen Thi Hong Le (Head of International Cooperation Department, TUCST), TUCST lecturers;  the Presidents and key officials from MinSU (Philippines) and Malaysia University (Malaysia). Nearly 200 people attended the online conference. Especially, there were also lecturers from Universities, Colleges and High Schools in the Philippines taking part in the conference. And due to the influence of the Covid-19 pandemic, there was a limited number of people attending the conference.  TUCST attendees were divided into many small groups including 01 the Executive Board in A205 meeting room and lecturers gathering in different rooms.

     Opening the Conference, Dr. Levy B. Avago Jr- MinSU President (Philippines) gave a welcome speech to the attendees of the conference, to TUCST- the conference co-organizer and wished for the sustainable cooperation between the two universities.

     On behalf of TUCST, Ms. Ha emphasized: "The cooperation between TUCST and MinSU has been over nearly 10 years with many really meaningful cooperation programs. Up to now, we have co-organized four scientific conferences in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2020, including 2 co-organized seminars in the Philippines and 2 seminars in Vietnam. Under the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, this conference aims to share effective ways to respond to higher education in general and universities in particular to perform well their duties and mission as a place of communication. This is also an opportunity for universities to learn experiences and successful lessons in order to minimize shortcomings and limitations under the impact of the pandemic and accumulate more experience and knowledge to promote effective international cooperation activities to integrate with the international higher education."

     The conference organizers received 58 articles from 3 countries Vietnam, Philippines and Malaysia. In which, 15 excellent papers were selected to be presented at the conference. In terms of TUCST, 20 lecturers wrote articles. The articles focused on such topics as: Applying 4.0 technology to organize teaching activities suitable to the Covid-19 pandemic; maintaining forms of joint training mid the travel restrictions between countries;  International cooperation activities between TUCST and partners under the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic ……. The four selected papers were presented at the conference as follows:

  1. "Higher education in Vietnam under the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic" by Dr. Hoang Thi Hue and Pham Thi Phuong.
  2. “The ways for international cooperation at TUCST under the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic" by Dr. Nguyen Thi Hong Le.
  3. "Factors affecting student satisfaction with E-learning online training at TUCST " by Dr. Mai Anh Vu and Mr. Nguyen Dinh Thao.
  4. "Challenges in implementing E-learning programs at TUCST" by Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuong Hien.

     The international conference with the theme: "Internationalization of higher education research amid the Covid-19 pandemic" took place successfully. The articles and discussions have opened up many new directions on the issues related to Training - International Cooperation - Scientific Research, helping TUCST overcome existing difficulties and step up steadily to be on par with other universities in Vietnam and the world.
